Taking Planned Show Endings Further

Over the past three weeks, I’ve made a ton of progress on the next major update for Endless TV Tycoon, titled Lights Out, Cameras On (2025.1). All core features for Planned Show Endings are now finished—and I’ve already started working on the extras! 🥳
☑️ What’s New Since the Last Dev Diary
- When a show airs its series finale, its status is now set to Ended.
- Once a show has a final season, networks can no longer order additional seasons.
- If an Ended show is picked up by another network, its series finale episodes are converted to season finales.
- Spin-offs from shows with proper endings now get a bonus to approval chances.
- Episode types (Pilot, Regular, Season Finale, Flashback, Series Finale) are now shown on the episode list and detail screen, and during production.
- Viewership for Season Finales, Flashbacks, and Series Finales is now boosted.
- The Knowledge Base has been updated with all the new info.
- The chance for a network to end a show (via planned ending or cancellation) now increases slightly with each additional season.
- Bulk episode edit is coming for networks! When ordering a season, you can now apply a minimum score or budget to all episodes at once (Early Access only at first).
- In the Scheduling Office, show genres are now displayed to help with ad placement.
- There are now three new ad scheduling options: all free slots of the day, all free slots in the show's season, and for all free slots of the week with shows of the same genre.
I'm still working on the rest of the features for this update. The finish line’s in sight, so maybe start holding your breath! 😬
Follow along on Discord, Reddit, Instagram, Threads, or X to catch sneak peeks as I go.
Reminder: As always, most new features—like Planned Show Endings and Edit All Episodes for Seasons—will launch first as Early Access exclusives for Ultimate Pass holders. They’ll become free for everyone later, with the next major update.
💖 Support Endless TV Tycoon
I started this game back in 2019 as a passion project, and it’s grown thanks to an amazing, if small, community. Its niche focus means ads or one-time purchases wouldn’t cover the development costs long-term.
That’s where subscriptions come in. Your support fuels updates, new features, and improvements. While the game isn’t self-sustaining yet, every bit of support gets us closer.
- A Basic Pass speeds up development and removes interruptions.
- An Ultimate Pass unlocks 1,500+ Promo Images, Early Access features, Feature Voting, and adds your name to the Hall of Fame!
Thank you for supporting this journey—it means the world to me. 🥰
