It’s Raining Hotfixes

The last few weeks have been all about fixing every known issue in Endless TV Tycoon, making your play sessions smoother and ensuring I can move forward with the next major update—without any skeletons lurking in the closet. 💀
🛠️ Hotfix Rainfall & What’s Next
The latest major update, version 2024.4, which introduced Managing Your Own Network, broke a record for the most hotfixes received: 8 in total (so far). I released 6 of them in the past few weeks since my last Dev Diary.
So, what got fixed?
- A lot of effort went into making the End Week process much faster, especially for long-running games. Everything that happens at the end of each week now runs significantly quicker. To achieve this, some unimportant old data had to be cleared—like finished, old AI shows, their schedules, and action events older than five years.
- The first time you load a saved game after this update and trigger End Week, it might take a little longer while all that old data gets cleaned up.
- Also, after launching the game, the first End Week will take slightly longer, but after that, it’ll be way faster.
- You could produce episodes for seasons that hadn’t been greenlit when making shows for your own network.
- On the flip side, AI studios working for your network were producing episodes you haven’t ordered yet.
- In rare cases, you might have seen releasable episodes that weren’t actually ready for release.
- Your TV company wasn’t leveling up when you had a studio or network at max level.
- Level-ups were also stuck if you had unlimited money turned on.
- When multiple shows were waiting to be released on an AI network, sometimes only one was scheduled per turn, alternating weekly.
- Streaming networks were scheduling player shows ridiculously far into the future. That’s fixed—schedules should now be much more realistic.
- During the yearly network update (week 24), broadcast and cable networks were getting unusually low preferences for main cast sizes and episodes per season. These will return to normal at the next network update.
- 60-minute show views weren’t always counted correctly toward ad contract goals.
- The Weekly Events screen sometimes showed double the intended show pitches.
- Episode costs for guest stars, extras, and stunt artists were miscalculated.
- Salaries for crew members (Scriptwriters, Directors, Consultants) were also miscalculated.
Update the game to get all the fixes! 🚀
Now that this storm of hotfixes has passed, I’m shifting my focus to laying the groundwork for the next big feature update: Planned Show Endings. First comes planning, then implementation—more details next time!
💖 Support Endless TV Tycoon
I started this game in 2019 as a passion project, powered by an amazing, if small, community. Its niche focus means traditional funding methods like one-time purchases or ad revenue wouldn’t sustain development.
That’s why subscriptions are vital. Your support directly funds updates, new features, and improvements. While the game isn’t self-sustaining yet, every bit of support gets us closer.
- A Basic Pass speeds up development and ensures an interruption-free experience.
- An Ultimate Pass unlocks 1,500+ Promo Images, Early Access features, Feature Voting, and your name in the Hall of Fame!
Thank you for supporting this journey—it means the world to me. 🥰
